The Oregon Food Bank’s mission is “To eliminate hunger and its root causes…because no one should be hungry.” A mission that the Zidell Companies (the parent company of TFA) and Family believe in. The Zidell Company’s history with the Oregon Food Bank has been monumental– with raffle ticket sales each holiday season, food drives and volunteering at the main center for “Day of Caring”—it’s a personal mission to the Zidell Family to end food insecurities in our community.

When Charlene Zidell joined the Company, she and the family collectivity discussed ways to get more involved in this cause. In 2013, they found their answer. A big announcement was made to the employees and community— “To commemorate the 100 year anniversary of Sam Zidell’s immigration to Oregon, The Zidell Companies, on behalf of our employees, will be donating $150,000 to the Oregon Food Bank School Pantry program as the lead gift to end juvenile food insecurity.”

This donation alone helped the Oregon Food Bank establish 25 pantries in the Multnomah and Washington Counties. It provided food for an additional 500 families with 208,000 meals per month. That’s incredible!

“For years, the Zidell family has supported The Oregon Food Bank. Now, with this gift, we will be able to make a deeper impact and reach more families. We urge all Oregonians to do their part to eradicate childhood hunger in Oregon. A gift of $20 provides enough food for 66 nutritious meals. Together, we can – we must – end childhood hunger.”
